Inspired by nature & wholesome simple living these lights give a warm & welcoming glow and are available in 4 different designs - Star Tent, Townhouse, Woodland & Welsh Cottage all with a natural jute cord, perfect for creating Hygge inspired lighting! Blue Brontide interviewed the maker of these stunning night-lights, Chloe Harrison, to learn the story behind the brand . . .

How did Bright Corner all begin?
I always wanted to run my own little business doing something creative and after I had my little girl I couldn't find a well designed, wooden nightlight for her bedroom, they were all plastic and too kiddy for me. So I decided to make my own and then realised that my lights could work for adults and children in any space.

Can you tell us a little more about the beautiful light you make & where they are made?

My lights are cut using a CNC machine, I found a local company to work with, which is perfect as I have a great relationship with them and can collect my stock. I then prep and assemble them back in my garden studio. My cables are specifically made for me in the UK, using cotton covered flex and come in 3 colours, I also include an LED bulb which emits the perfect warm light for my designs.

What would you say the values & ethos is behind Bright Lights?

I am very passionate about supporting small UK businesses and am very proud that my lights are made 100% in the UK. It is also important to me to create products that are sustainable and have longevity in a home. I want my designs to bring happiness to my customers, invoking a calm, wholesome feeling. m m m

Where do you find inspiration when designing your beautiful lights?

My main inspiration comes from nature and architecture but also personal experiences like camping or growing up by the coast.

What does 'making' mean to you?
'Making' brings me a sense of satisfaction and joy.

What sustainable materials do you use to make your lights and why did you choose them?
My lights are made from FSC approved wood, which means it is from a sustainable source. I chose to use Birch Ply as I love the layers when you cut through it but also the tone and simplicity of the surface.

Why is sustainability important to you as a business & in your everyday life?
I hate throwing things away. We now buy for convenience rather than longevity, which creates so much waste in our world. It is important to me that I appreciate and am conscious of what I buy. I prefer to spend more but on things that will last and that you will love and this is reflected in my business.

What are your biggest challenges pertaining to sustainability?
I would say cost, making my products sustainable and in the UK definitely makes them more expensive for the customer.
